1 West Ave, Toronto, ON M4M 2L7, Canada
Three spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a primary ensuite, second-floor laundry room and one car laneway parking. This family home gives you everything you need. The bistro-like renovated kitchen with butcher block style ledge and shelves, separate gas cooktop and double oven will set your heart on fire. Hang on to every bit of abundant storage. Whether it’s the fully finished basement or outdoor shed. Bikes, golf clubs and Costco runs all have a home. There’s a reason the current owners haven’t moved in SIXTEEN YEARS! A Two-minute walk to Caroline Huebner Parkette, eight minutes to Jimmie Simpson, seven minutes to the best of Queen St in Riverside, and five minutes to Gerrard St E. You could be in no better place than One West.
The mural was submitted by Phade (Jessey Pacho) in partnership with us and supported by Paula Fletcher for the StreetArt Toronto initiative called “Just Us” and was awarded the project – 1 of 20 chosen projects in 2020. Just Us” art call is a request for mural proposals in support and recognition of Black lives and the rights of Indigenous Peoples sanctioned by the City of Toronto’s division, StreetArt Toronto.
Having learned of Phade’s work in tribute of George Floyd, we wanted to do something in support of Black Lives Matter and so instead of making a donation, we decided to bring a message to our ever white, high traffic wall. Phade’s message “Movement, It’s More Than a Moment” is depicted by the word Movement with the word Moment fading into the background and two BIPOC children freely playing to demonstrate the importance of continued awareness and support for change.
Phade is a highly accomplished and respected street artist in Toronto – so respected in fact that it is known that his work does not get tagged. He is included in the regular StreetArt Toronto
For the final day of the mural, the community came together to celebrate – backyard drinks and snacks – including Phade and Mel Hart and her dance crew who performed for the community and StreetArt Toronto representatives.
The mural has become a conversation starter as families trek their kids through the alleyway to Tiverton park, and as a source of pride for us and our neighbors.
